Business & Industry Leadership Team (BILT) Meeting
What does it take to build a clean energy future? Skilled workers — and the right partners to train them.
Recently, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) partnered with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, along with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), to hold a full-day meeting of the Business & Industry Leadership Team (BILT). The goal of this meeting was to address the gap between clean energy ambitions and the realities of the workforce.
Launched in 2024, BILT's mission is to strengthen NJ's energy efficiency workforce by aligning training, funding, and partnerships with real-time employer needs, while ensuring the clean energy transition includes a diverse and inclusive workforce.
The conversation included: Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo, Chair of the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee and Deputy Speaker; Gabrielle Esperdy, Dean of NJIT's Hillier College of Architecture & Design; and NJBPU's Division of Clean Energy Dr. Indrani Pal and Deputy Director Stacy Ho Richardson, Esq.
New Jersey has committed to 100% clean energy by 2035. BILT is helping make sure we have the people to build it.
