Offshore Wind Archive
New Jersey is bringing more green to the Garden State by creating jobs and bringing the advantages of clean, stable-priced, renewable wind energy to tens of thousands of coastal residents. View archived information on the offshore wind program below.

Stakeholder Meetings
NJBPU Staff held a series of virtual Stakeholder Meetings to solicit input and gather additional information from stakeholders to inform its evaluation of offshore wind transmission proposals submitted to PJM Interconnection, LLC as part of a competitive solicitation process known as the State Agreement Approach (SAA):

NJDEP Solicitation for Research Proposals
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Division of Science, Research and Technology (now the Division of Science and Research), issued a Solicitation for Research Proposals (SRP) to address the need for baseline ecological and natural resource data as recommended by the State of New Jersey Blue Ribbon Panel on Development of Wind Turbine Facilities in Coastal Waters.
The objective of this request was to conduct baseline studies in waters off New Jersey's coast to determine the current distribution and usage of this area by ecological resources. The scope of work included the collection of data on the distribution, abundance, and migratory patterns of avian, marine mammal, sea turtle and other species in the study area over a 24-month period. The final report was released on July 23, 2010.
New Jersey Offshore Wind Feasibility Study
The New Jersey Offshore Wind Feasibility Study was prepared for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities by Atlantic Renewable Energy Corporation and AWS Scientific, Inc. and completed in November of 2004.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the feasibility of utility-scale wind energy development in the waters off the coast of New Jersey. The only viable opportunities for significant large-scale wind development are considered to be offshore, where the wind resources are much stronger and where certain land use conflicts can be avoided. The information provided by this report is intended to inform potential stakeholders about waters for future development. The goal is to characterize the siting considerations including various geophysical, environmental, regulatory, and commercial parameters that offshore wind energy development will have to address if seriously pursued in New Jersey.
