About the Program
New Jersey's Clean Energy Program supports the development of our state's clean energy workforce through the Workforce Development Program. The Workforce Development program offers reimbursements to those who complete courses leading to certifications that support the New Construction Program. Eligible courses are designed to promote energy efficiency and decarbonization in New Jersey’s new construction market.
Up to $2,000 will be reimbursed per person per course upon successful completion. Reimbursement is limited to $4,000 per person per fiscal year from July 1 through June 30.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicant Requirements
An eligible applicant is a person:
- Who lives in the State of New Jersey OR
- Whose principal place of work is in New Jersey OR
- Who has another connection to New Jersey, such as being a New Jersey college or university student. This would have to be approved by the Program Manager and Board of Public Utilities Staff. Proof of eligibility is required at the time of application.
Training Course/Certificate Requirements
The reimbursement is intended to provide support for training that is related to specific certification requirements associated with the New Construction Program. Please see User Guide for a full list of eligible certifications.
Application Process
Applications should be submitted through the Workforce Development application portal at least one week prior to taking the training. The applicant must gain approval from the Program before taking the training course or certificate exam to be eligible for reimbursement.
Applicants can check their status through the application portal. Once the training course or certification is complete you will be required to submit proof of payment and successful completion. Program staff will review documentation and release reimbursement upon approval.
